Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), better known by her stage name of Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter and actress. Born in santa barbara,  California, and raised by Christian  pastor parents.

 Perry grew up listening to only gospel music and sang in her local church as a child. After earning a GED  during her first year of high school, she pursued a career, and as Katy Hudson released  a self titled gospel album  in 2001, which was unsuccessful. She latter recorded an album with production team The matrix, and recorded a solo album which was never released. After signing with Capital music group  in 2007, her fourth record label in seven years, she adopted the stage name Katy Perry. Perry released his first single on the internet, "Ur So Gay" is enough to get public attention but failed to enter the charts. Katy became famous with the release of second single, "I Kissed a Girl" in 2008, which topped the charts internationally. In the same year, Perry's first album One of the Boys became the best-selling album worldwide-33 in 2008. Perry Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America, while "I Kissed a Girl" and the second single, "Hot n Cold" received multi-platinum certification. In both, the album Teenage Dream was released in August 2010 and debuted at number one the Billboard 200. This album hit singles include "California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Fireworks", "ET" and "Last Friday Night (TGIF)", all of which have topped the charts in Billboard Hot 100. With the "E.T." perched at number one on the charts May 12, 2011, Perry became the first artist in history to spend a whole year, for 52 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 top 10.

Perry has a contralto vocal range (the lowest female voice) .Because of the low vocal range, he lowered the key of many of his songs while singing directly in order to improve his voice.

Perry is known for its unusual style of dress.It is commonly seen funny, bright colors, reminiscent of different decades and Perry often uses fruit forms accessories, mainly watermelon as part of his clothes.
